新闻稿

Uta Barth, a Berlin-born artist who currently lives in Los Angeles, photographs ordinary places—rooms, streets, skies, fields, airports. Not only does she turn her camera on what is often overlooked, but she also transforms her subjects through soft focus, digital manipulation of the negative, color alterations, and the inversion or erasure of the photographs. Barth uses altered subject matter to address issues of seeing. Deceptively simple, her photographs question the traditional functions of pictures, subvert the conventions of photography, and examine issues of perception and our expectations surrounding them.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with an essay by Jan Tumlir.
